What is Renewable Energy and Onsite Generation?
Renewable energy is the term given to energy which is produced by converting energy from naturally occurring sources like the wind, the sun and sea tides, into energy that people can use, instead of energy that comes from non-renewable sources like oil, natural gas and coal.
The advantage of using renewable energy is that it never runs out and it offers lower carbon dioxide emissions than conventional non-renewable energy sources, helping reduce your organisations impact on carbon emissions and climate change. In addition to this, most renewable or low carbon energy sources are financially incentivised by government.
The two most common ways for organisations to access renewable energy are:
- Renewable energy tariffs (gas and electricity)
- Onsite renewable energy generation
We offer services related to both of the above, to find out more on getting access to our green energy tariffs click here.
In relation to onsite renewable and low carbon technologies there are various technologies which we can help your organisation implement, they include:
Solar Photovoltaic (Solar PV) |
This generates electricity from any light source |
Solar Thermal |
This generates hot water by capturing heat from the sun |
Wind Turbines |
Wind turbines transform the winds energy into electricity. |
Micro – Hydroelectric |
Micro – Hydroelectric uses the movement of water to generate electricity. |
Air Source Heat Pumps |
This absorbs heat from the outside air and transfers it into water tanks to provide hot water for domestic use or heating systems. |
Ground Source Heat Pumps |
This absorbs heat from the ground and transfers it into water tanks to provide hot water for domestic use or heating systems. |
Water Source heat Pumps |
This absorbs heat from water and transfers it into water tanks to provide hot water for domestic use or heating systems. |
Biomass Boilers |
Biomass boilers generate heat by burning wood based fuel, which is then transferred into hot water for domestic use or heating systems. |
We also offer financial support to help your business make the change towards onsite energy generation and installation of low carbon technologies.
